hotoSketch, is a software developed by Brainstorm Technology LLC. PhotoSketch offers the combined benefits of Photogrammetry and Google Sketchup. With tones of data that “Google Earth” or “Micrososft Visual Earth” has to offer, an application is needed to create 3D overview of the scenes, to give a realistic or more human touch to them. Traditionally available are two approaches to achieve the effect. One is Laser Range Scanners. The out received from the approach is too heavy to be merged with web based applications. The second approach “Photogrammetry” solves this problem but requires much manual work.

PhotoSketch is developed as Google Sketchup plug-in. The software generates web worthy 3D models appropriate for merging in web based applications and streaming.

For example, there is a building at specific location. In order to create a 3D photograph of the building to be merged with Google Earth, user needs to have various images of the object. PhotoSketch features calibrate the images to generate a 3D view. The view can easily bed projected on Google earth or Microsoft Virtual Earth.

The virtue of PhotoSketch does not stop here. The software also offers an innovative approach to create the pictures; the user has in his mind starting from scratch. To elaborate, the user draws a rough sketch of a scene; all he needs to do is to label the objects. Software would automatically find the images matching the label of the objects. Once the images are there, user can pick the best one to complete the picture he has in his mind.
